Drenica Nacion’s latest series “Complimentary Lovers” explores the importance of the viewer’s presence. Her work refutes the idea that virtual reproductions of artwork on our phones, tablets and screens can replace the physical and emotional experience of being “present” with a work of art.

The series evolves into deep and sensual portraits with colors that appear in constant flux: changing as one moves about them. Using Fibonacci sequence patterns and complementary colors, as well as utilizing iridescent pigments, the colors shimmer and shift depending on the angle of the viewer and reflection of light.
